For Authors

Dear doctoral candidates,

The Julius Kühn Institute congratulates you on passing the dissertation! Gaining the doctoral degree usually requires the publication of the PhD thesis. The Julius Kühn Institute will publish it for free. Furthermore, the staff of the Information Centre and Library sees to your work to be durably citeable, indexed in German Libraries, printed as an edition of 20 copies and, upon your approval, published online.

To publish your dissertation within the book series “Dissertationen aus dem Julius Kühn-Institut”, please submit your work as PDF (approved version after your defense).

Important: There are problems with horizontal pages (landscape format) during printing. If you absolutely need horizontal pages, please rotate them and pay attention to the orientation of page numbers and headers to be consistent throughout the entire document. You will find an instruction for rotating pages with the Adobe Acrobat DC below. For the right orientation of page numbers and headers, please delete them in the Word file and add them by using the Adobe Acrobat DC (instruction below).

To start a submission, please create an account with the “Dissertationen aus dem Julius Kühn-Institut”. Once you are logged in, you can upload your PDF under “New Submission”. Please follow all the 5 submission steps. Important: Please give us your address to where the printed dissertations will be sent in the field “Comments to the editor” within the first submission step. Furthermore, in the same field, please give us the JKI institute where you worked during preparing your thesis.

After submission, your thesis will be checked formally by the staff of the Information Centre and Library and completed by adding a cover and a page with legal information. Upon your approval of the final version your thesis will be printed and published online. Depending on the availability of printing resources you will receive your printed copies within 2-4 weeks.
