lnvestigations on the phenotypic stability of some characters of Vitis vinifera
The phenotypic stability of 9 characters was determined by investigations on 6 varieties of Vitis vinifera at 7-10 locations during 2 years. The ecovalence (WRICKE 1964) and the environmental regression typical of the varieties (FINLAY and WILKINSON 1963, EBERHART and RUSSEL 1966) were calculated as parameters for the phenotypic stability. Differences in the phenotypic stability could be established between the varieties for several characters which coincide with the general experiences in practice. The results show that the degree of phenotypic stability gives valuable informations about the suitability of new breeding stocks for cultivation.
