Appearance of Downy Mildew in seed propagation of Garden Cress (Lepidium sativum L.) – Evaluation of Seed Treatment and Growth Conditions in pot experiment
The seed propagation of Garden Cress (Lepidium sativum L.) is in Germany mainly done in organic farming. Since several years there is a high incidence of Downy Mildew (Hyaloperonospora parasitica, Perofascia lepidii) in the organic seed propagation of Garden Cress. The disease infestation with Downy Mildew can lead to complete failure of seed harvest. Therefore organic seed propagation of Garden Cress is highly at risk. The ongoing investigations evaluate the influence of Seed Treatment (Water steam, Electron beam) and Growth Conditions (Moisture, Soil) on the infestation with Downy Mildew.
