m
U= A • Π xbi • ecix
i = 1
Mathematical model concerning relationships between crop load and yield components of grapevine
Available data of grapevine yield and its components, obtained in 3-year experiments on cultivar Bouquet with 4 levels of individual pruning (DOBREVA AND STOEV 1991) were represented by descriptive mathematical model of a power-exponential type: y = A· xb · ecx where: x = pruning level (number of retained buds per vine); y = yield per vine resp. yield components (kg).
Such a descriptive model offers some advantages: The same type of regression was utilised to represent all agrobiological indices of the grapevine production: values which were measured directly like yield per vine (YV), number of developed buds per vine (DE), number of shoots per vine (SH), number of clusters per vine (CL); etc., and all their ratios like number of developed buds per retained node (DE/EV), number of shoots per developed buds (SH/DE), number of clusters per shoot (CL/SH), cluster weight (YV/CL), etc.
Due to the applicability of mentioned regressions, it will be also possible to compose a functional polybinary model (type of KLIMOV 1974):
m
U= A • Π xbi • ecix
i = 1
Such a model will represent the yield (U) like a product (II) of many components from which each will be a function yi = yi(x) of a pruning level x.
In a model like this the parameters b, c and A will characterise the cultivar; the year-to-year variation of these parameters will respond to the influence of the external factors - climatic conditions of the year and agrotechnical factors.
