In an outdoor experiment, the control and development of perennial lawn weeds were investigated. Ten species (Achillea millefolium, Glechoma hederacea, Plantago major, Ranunculus repens, Medicago lupulina, Bellis perennis, Prunella vulgaris, Trifolium repens, Taraxacum officinale and Ornithopus perpusillus) were cultivated, selected on the basis of continuous naming in the literature and actual occurrence on the lawns near the test site. In addition, all four variants were tested with and without N-fertilization. Apart from the persistence, growth parameters such as plant diameter and height as well as flowering time were recorded.
In the herbicide variants, most weed species were controlled well. One year after application there were only few remaining plants of the species Glechoma hederacea, Taraxacum officinale und Prunella vulgaris. In the variants without herbicide treatment Bellis perennis and Ornithopus perpusillus were no longer available in the following year after planting. The other species hardly show plant losses. Due to the experimental approach, the results can be transferred only partially to the practice, but basic knowledge could be achieved to control perennial lawn weeds.
