Concept and focus

Landbauforschung – Journal of Sustainable and Organic Agriculture (ISSN 2700-8711) is a peer-reviewed interdisciplinary Open Access journal with a focus on new developments towards sustainable agriculture.

The scope encompasses any aspect of plant production for food, feed and fuel; plant-based raw materials for medical applications, textiles, construction works and further chemical processing; while also addressing and aiming to overcome problems such as biodiversity loss, soil degradation, water shortage, environmental pollution, deforestation, global warming and many more. Submissions on interlinked topics are welcome, such as animal husbandry, circular production systems, technical advances, economic aspects, political and legal frameworks and social challenges like contrasting needs of stakeholders such as producers, consumers and future generations.

We publish original research articles and reviews on the topics listed above in one regular, continuously filled issue per year. In addition, special issues hosted by guest editors address defined topics. They strive to include different aspects, novel developments and complementary view points. If you are interested in hosting an issue as guest editor, do not hesitate to suggest a topic and send a short outline to our journal management team.

The journal is indexed in the Science Citation Index (Clarivate, Impact Factor 2022: 2.3), Scopus (Elsevier, CiteScore 2022: 2.8), Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), CAB Direct.

Landbauforschung is a ‘diamond’ open access journal without any fee for readers and authors. The journal is fully funded by the Julius Kühn-Institut (JKI), Federal Research Centre for Cultivated Plants, an agency of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture in Germany. As publicly funded institution, the JKI aims to make all of their research available open access and is dedicated to further the open knowledge exchange in the field of agricultural science and beyond. The journals are one of many accessible platforms the JKI provides to promote scientific discourse.
