We at the Julius Kühn-Institut – Federal Research Centre for Cultivated Plants in Germany – publish a variety of national and international journals for the scientists and professionals in plant cultivation, plant breeding and related fields. We support and encourage open access and redistribution of scientific knowledge. Therefore, all of our journals are freely accessible and licensed for re-use and redistribution.   • Journal of Cultivated Plants

    The Journal of Cultivated Plants publishes peer-reviewed original and review articles in the field of cultivated plants in field crops and grassland, fruit crops and viticulture, vegetable and ornamental crops, urban green and forests. The scope of the journal includes plant genetics, plant genetic resources, breeding research on plants, plant breeding, crop production, plant nutrition, soil science, plant protection and plant health.

  • Landbauforschung - Journal of Sustainable and Organic Agriculture

    Landbauforschung is a peer-reviewed interdisciplinary journal with a focus on new developments towards sustainable agriculture. The scope encompasses plant production for food, feed and fuel; plant-based raw materials for medical applications, textiles, construction works and further chemical processing; while also addressing problems such as biodiversity loss, soil degradation, water shortage, environmental pollution and deforestation.

  • VITIS - Journal of Grapevine Research

    Headed by the Institute of Grapevine Breeding of the Julius Kühn-Institut, VITIS publishes original scientific papers and critical reviews concerning grapevine biology, molecular biology, breeding, plant pathology, oenology and related fields. Four issues per year are available online.

  • Journal of Applied Botany and Food Quality

    This journal is published in collaboration with the German Society for Quality Research on Plant Foods and the Section Applied Botany of the German Botanical Society. It focuses on applied research in plant physiology and plant ecology, plant biotechnology, plant breeding and cultivation, phytomedicine, plant nutrition, plant stress and resistance, plant microbiology, plant analysis (including -omics techniques), and plant food chemistry.

  • Julius-Kühn-Archiv

    The Julius-Kühn-Archiv publishes conference proceedings and comprehensive scientific articles in all research areas of the Julius Kühn-Institut. These are in particular plant genetics, breeding research on plants, plant breeding, crop production, plant nutrition, soil science, plant protection and plant health.

  • Berichte aus dem Julius Kühn-Institut

    This series contains final or status reports of projects conducted at the Julius Kühn-Institut as well as conference proceedings containing short, one-page abstracts. The topics reflect the various research fields of the JKI comprising plant genetics, plant genetic resources, breeding research on plants, plant breeding, crop production, plant nutrition, soil science, plant protection and plant health.

  • Dissertationen aus dem Julius Kühn-Institut

    This book series publishes PhD theses of authors having been employees at the Julius Kühn Institute while completing their doctorate. The main topics of the book series therefore are coming from the whole area of crop plant research, such as crop and soil science, plant protection, plant health, plant nutrition, stored product protection, plant breeding, bee protection or plant biotechnology.
