Abstract

Morphological characteristics of the lately described Phytophthora hybrid, Ph. x pelgrandis W.F. Gerlach, Nirenberg, Graef., isolated from a variety of Pelargonium grandiflorum hort. are presented and documented with photographic pictures. Besides morphologic and physiologic data (temperature requirements) molecular analyses (RAPD-PCR) and infection tests with vatieties of P. grandiflorum and Nicotiana tabacum L. are reported. For comparison cultures of the similar looking species Ph. cactorum (Leb. et Cohn) Schröt. and Ph. nicotianae van Breda de Haan were chosen.
