Biological control in arable crops is of minor importance in German conventional agriculture though there are a few exceptions. Reasons for this are the usually higher costs as well as lower efficiency and greater variability of effects of biological methods. In addition, a high degree of expert knowledge and intensive advice are necessary for a successful use of biological control, but both these factors are often missing.
