Abstract

Biodiversity in the cultivated landscape can be in competition with agriculture, but it has got many synergetic effects. The rules of the European and German plant protection laws balance possible conflicts of interest. The authorization and the approval of plant protection products involve the actual state of science and technique thus avoiding unacceptable effects on biodiversity. Plant protection laws demand additionally well informed and educated farmers and technical equipment approved related to the latest state of the art. The measurement of the biodiversity is a new order of the European law and will influence the preservation and the improvement of biodiversity. The transparency of plant protection has been further improved thereby.
