<em>Mahonia aquifolium</em> – a new host of <em>Colletotrichum japonicum</em> comb. nov.

In June 2011 a fungus was detected on Mahonia aquifolium which caused leaf spots. It was determined as Gloeosporium japonicum. This is the first report of Gloeosporium japonicum for Europe and of a new host for this fungus. Based on morphological characters Gloeosporium japonicum has been transferred to the genus Colletotrichum.
